Could someone please help me with the mark on this sauce ladle, which I assumed was plated faux marks, but which I am now told could be obscure Scottish provincial (!). Any ideas?

Hi,

I think that's a variation of Israel Yudelmann's mark. See: http://www.925-1000.com/silverplate_Y.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hello, I’d like to post another possible “Israel Yudelmann” maker’s mark, but lacking the “&S” cartouche but with some of other pseudo silver marks.

“Yudelmann” was noted in Sheffield from 1880 and later an “and Sons” company is recorded in the first quarter of the 20th century. The above marks may be of the possible before “and Sons” firm.

Below is another image from the Forum of a second possible before “and Sons” mark.

Both this photo and my photo show the mark describable as a squashed “gamma” mark or the mark of the astrological sign “Taurus”.

Yours
Fishless

Ps. There are other posts about “Yudelmann” on the forum, most in “Silver plate Trademarks Worldwide” but also in “Silver plate Trademarks”. Some of the images are lost though.
