this appears to date to 1815, Glasgow. i read that hallmarks weren't implemented in Glasgow until 1819. Could this be provincial silver? any idea on maker "PA"?
thanks!

The date letter looks to me like the capital "U" for 1840.

This would fit for the P.A mark to be Peter Aitken.

Sorry, the correct date should be 1839-40. The King's head duty mark continued in use at Glasgow after Queen Victoria came to the throne until mid 1840. Anyone know why?

yes, it appears to be a capital "U", that matches an 1815 London datemark. i don't have access to the Glasgow datemarks to match it up. so the general consensus is 1840?
thanks!
