Hi, I wanted to know if anyone has seen this sterling mark before, I couldn't find anything that looked similar on the sterling image search. Any info on the wallet?

Thanks

Heh, spent years managing a high-end luggage and leather goods store, we used to get some old gator valises and wallets in for repair, but I've only seen one other horn-back alligator piece as cool as yours.....later pieces were/are usually only the smoother side and belly panels.

Your maker is Deitsch Brothers of NY (1896-1922), much of their production was silver mounted leather goods. I have a few old ads in my files, will hunt them up and post some for you in a bit.

Deitsch Bros

Charles and Edward J Deitsch are listed under the heading of Deitsch Bros leather good at 416 Broome as early as 1889 New York City Directory. Deitsch Bros are listed in the leather goods business in New York City at least until 1925.

Wow!

I really appreciate your great and very informative response, I didn't realize that was a D. Those old ads are great by the way!

Thanks again,
