Hi,

I found this strange mark on a cake showel. It looks like an F and a triangle. On the other side is the usual German half-moon and crown mark. Any idea which maker is behind this mark?

»FZM« = Franz (Z = script L, stands for "Louis") Mosgau, Berlin

Hello

Please look here: http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884_4.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The maker's mark is that of Franz L. Mosgau, Berlin - a silver wares factory for flatware and hollowware. They had always a broad range of items in offer - with also a broad range of execution in materials.

They made also »Kittware« - that is silverware, made from silver foils, filled; characteristique is, the fineness mark and others are already made during production processing, in »relief«.

Their speciality where also flatware servers in fantasy patterns - like e.g. fish slicers, meat carvers, pastry server, salad server, tartlet server, tea strainer ...

Kind regards silverport
