Another J.S mark

Hi,

here's another JS mark, this time just the two letters in a row on a serving fork. The usual half-moon crown mark for German silver is missing. Just the J.S. Is this also Josef Schmid?

»Kittware« fork server, with nickel plated steel fork, made by »J.S«

Hello Flaubert

Yours server fork with a haft of silver has a nickel plated steel fork; also this »Kittware« seems to me to be made in Berlin, as your fruit knife.

»J.S« is maybe the same maker as »IS«, the by me unknown Berlin maker. »IS« has placed his maker's mark crossways - there for the mark had to be "short". »J.S« has maker's and fineness mark combined - so he had longitudinal more space.

As in the past time of maker's marks: For lack of mark's space, an »I« stands often for »J« = e.g. Johannes. Maybe in these two cases too?

Sorry, that actually I couldn’t find out more on these two, of some other »Kittware« makers in Berlin.

Kind regards silverport
