Help with American Mark

Can you help me locate the Mark for the sterling silver demitasse cup and saucer. It looks similar to a M with something like a shooting star across it. The closest I have found is a M from D.J. Mahoney company.
Thank you.

Have a look at Matthews Company and see what you think:

thank you for your reply. I did look at Mathews but could not find anything similar at the references I checked. Is there a chance it is not American? Although the family history would be American east coast.

I'm sorry, but I would be hard pressed to look beyond Matthews. That said, stranger things have happened. The word sterling usually goes along with American made goods of the proper quality and similar age to your set. Good luck with your research.

Hi, your pictures are quite fuzzy, but must agree with silverly that it's Matthews, it is typical of their production and should have a ceramic liner made by Lenox China (can be replaced). Not sure what references you're checking, but similar pieces can be easily found online.
