Makers mark WAJ - who?

I haven't been able to find out who made this pendant - WAJ
Also looking for confirmation that this was made in London, UK in 1861
and is ' Vermeil' - gold plated silver?
It's for a history project. Appreciate any help.

The maker would be William Andrew Johnson listed as a jeweler variously in Clerkenwell and Soho. The rest of your information appears to be correct.
