This is an old sterling dish with a strange hallmark. On one side of the hallmark is a box shape with what looks like an small "R" and large "L" and a small "C" and a small "S". The "C" may be an "O". In the middle is the word "STERLING" and on the right is a Dragron like symbol inside a "C".

Can someone help identify the maker?

Thanks you.

Hi,

The mark on the right is the Canadian national mark. See: http://www.925-1000.com/foreign_marks.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hello.

Dorothy Rainwater's book has that mark listed as unascribed.
I have not had any luck identifying it either.

The mark on the left looks like it is Lipman Bros who were at Nos. 251-253 Mutual Street, Toronto, Ontario. They did make holloware and were a pre World War II company. For now, that's all I know about them.

Actually, now I see there were in business at least until the 1960's. I'll stop here now on this one.
