found this little beauty - looks scandinavian to me but i couldn´t identify the marks . PP crowned - 86 or 98 ? ( zolotniki ) and mastermark ?!

Sometimes a question can be answered straight away, sometimes it takes a little longer!

A friend has finally cracked this one from 2011. The item is from Pamplona in Spain.





The item was assayed later than originally thought, the year is 1886. Apparently this style of date marking was introduced at Pamplona in around 1792 and they started with '92', during the early years of the 19th century an '8' was prefixing to the yearly numbers. As the 1800's rolled on, presumably the prefix was considered unnecessary and they reverted to the two number system. In the year 1892 the date letter mark was surmounted with the King's Crown.

``quite early 1820`` is impossible with this handle and the decor. The style is obviously late 19th century.Actually, I do not mind their taste unless they ruined Queen Anne silver chasing and embossing it, that being the real problem; either genuine early 18th century ``adjusted`` to Victorian taste or second half 19th century silver.
