Hello, here is an item bought at a flea market from a friend in southern France. It measures 19 centimeters long, he does not think it's a letter opener, because the rim is too wide ... There are two hallmark, N (Montpellier?) and another that I can not identify.
I think it dates to the Second Empire (Napoleon III)
Thank you for your help.

N stands for Nickel-Silver i.e. Neusilber or in English German silver. It dates to 1880-1925.
