I've been fortunate enough to have been helped by the wonderful people here before, and I've been going through the pages in this section trying to i.d. this bracelet but a lot of the photos have disappeared.

This is a five panel hinged bracelet, and on each panel a series of either three letters or numbers are stamped inside a diamond shape. There are also two round stamps side by side (no photo but I can post one if needed) and I'd love to get any information I can about this bracelet,. I'd love to know what the writing says!!

Thanks so much!

(Hada, if you are around, just wanted to say WOW you have a lot of info!!!:-)

Hello Small magpie,

Took me a while. Your lovely bracelet I have seen made and sold in Northern Syria, particularly Alleppo. The Armenia silversmiths are renowned for this filigree work. There is what looks like Arabic writing but in trying to outline letters from the metallic drawings, I decided that the writing is more for decorative purposes.

Regards

Oh, Hada! Thank you so very much! I really appreciate the information. I had no idea at all about the origins of that bracelet, and it's so nice to know something about it.

I have always wanted to go to Syria and Jordan...how wonderful that you've seen what you've seen! Now I think I'm too old, but having a small piece in my hand, or more precisely on my hand makes me happy!

Thanks again Hada - you are a gem!
