As a widower he married Sarah Rowe at St Bride, Fleet Street in 1811; both were from that parish. A witness to the marriage was Thomas Rowe who was possibly the same who had been William’s master when he had been an apprentice. The name of William’s previous wife has not been established.
The christening record in 1813 at St Leonard, Foster Lane for daughter Elizabeth shows her father as a silver polisher from Deans Court, the address from which he had entered his first maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1812.
The christening record at St Botolph, Aldersgate in 1816 for daughter Mary Ann shows her parents continuing at the previous address but her father reported he was a silversmith.
The christening records for daughters Emma and Sarah at the same church in 1819 and 1820 show the change of address to Red Cross Square which he reported to Goldsmiths Hall in 1821.
His burial in 1830 aged 45 years is recorded at St Botolph, Aldgate; his last address was Red Cross Square. His Will was granted Probate on 31st July 1830.

Indentures were signed in 1815 for George Frederick Pinnell (Grimwade p.626) to be his apprentice as a silversmith at Dean’s Court; also in 1823 by John George, the son of John Bunn, a silver knife haft maker of Hoxton, to be his apprentice as a silversmith at Red Cross Court.

It is likely that George Frederick Pinnell succeeded to the business of William Barrett at 18, Red Cross Square. He is listed there as a silversmith in 1841.

George Frederick Pinnell appears to have been succeeded in turn by Jane Pinnell.

Jane Pinnell appears to occupy the premises until at least 1879.
