Any help in identifying the hallmark on these 6 spoons would be greatly appreciated. I believe they are salt spoons as they are rather small, measuring 4 1/4" long with the bowl measuring 15/16" wide. Also not sure if they are sterling or not. Again, thanks in advance. Vince

Hello,

No, I'm I afraid your spoons are not silver. They are Soviet pieces made from alloy known as Melkhior (MHU).

Your picture of the mark is the wrong way up.

The cyrillic etters мнц (MNZ or MNTs in English) are the initials of the constituents of the alloy: copper (med in Russian), nickel and zinc.

Thank you both for your invaluable help in the identification of the mark. They may not be silver, but boy do they clean up nice. Thanks again, Vince
