Hi,

A set of five large teaspoons, 5 1/2" (14 cm) in length.

Image

They are marked 'G. CALVO', 'JUNQUERA', and a shield that appears to be the Coat of Arms of Valladolid with a date of what appears to be 1879.

Can anyone provide any further information about these spoons? I have found a reference that states G. Calvo was working in 1903, but nothing more.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Not much help, but Marcas de la Plata Española y Virreinal (Madrid: Antiqvaria, 1999), by Alejandro Fernández et al., p. 112, notes that G. Calvo was the "marcadore", i.e., the assay master. That would make "Junquera" (who is not listed in the reference given) the maker.
