Please help with this Italian Sterling Necklace

It says "Italy" with "325" beneath. There is a 925 mark on the clasp. The hallmark is P.R. EX with "EX" running vertically after the "P.R." I believe the 325 is a reference to the manufacturer, and not an indication of the purity. Also, the P.R. might be in reference to the province Parma. Anyone know for sure?

Thank you so much Trev. So what is the 325 if it's not their registration number?

Difficult to say without seeing it, but suspect it may be a mis-struck 925 mark.
