9ct gold, made in Birmingham in 1946 by B&S (couldn't find much info on B&S, maybe someone else can help with that)

Cannot understand Dunhill made this of 9 carat gold. Was taxation for 585 much higher? Yes, 9 carat is stronger than gold alloys of 14 and 18 carats, but not that much.Nine carats is just a waste of gold.Jewelers seldom buy it as scrap gold.

Hi,

Maker I suspect would be Britton & Sons (Charles Henry Britton, Walter Britton, and Herbert Britton), 35, Hockley Hill, Birmingham.

Hi AG2012

9 K gold contains 37.5% pure gold, Bullion traders and Jewelers love to buy it for scrap value! Just make your calculations before writing nonsense.
