Hello, I don't know what this type of ornament is called. It is silver with coral and a topaz color stone; there are no marks. The semi-circular hanging piece moves freely. Not sure what the two small holes at the bottom of the top part would be for. Any info as to origin/age would also be appreciated. Thank you!!

Of course, now that I have asked, I have found out that this is a penannular brooch. According to Wikipedia: "They are especially associated with the beginning of the Early Medieval period in Ireland and Britain, although they are found in other times and places–for example, forming part of traditional female dress in areas in modern North Africa."

I am now thinking that this may be more the North African style than Celtic. My experience in this area is none. Anybody have an opinion on origin or age, still?
