Marks for an English Dessert Set

Need some help identifying marks on an English dessert set.
Marks are (M)(K)(&Co)(U)(crown|EP). The first 3 marks are in Old English typeface and probably refer to "M.K. & Co.) The fourth mark is a plain U in a diamond cartouche. The fifth mark is oriented clockwise 90 deg and has a crown and the letter EP in a shield-shaped cartouche. The crown is most similar to a Sheffield crown.
My current thinking is that this set was made by a firm called M.K. & Co. in 1888 in or around Sheffield, England.
Any help in narrowing down these marks would be appreciated.
