Hi Polly,
Welcome to the Forum.
I've often seen that mark struck on pieces that originate from the Singapore/Malaysian Peninsular area.

Polly
The script is Jawi which is Arabic script used in Malaysia
The word is Kelantan - a state in northern Malaysia which has a tradition of silverwork
There have been about a dozen posts in the Middle East forum over the past two years which ask about this word but I was focussed on Arabic and ended up quite perplexed
It was Trev's observation which caused me to switch focus. Tks Trev. Mystery solved - or at least the part about the origin.

Damon

Hi Damon,
Great work! Your research has been the pointer to identify what I believe could well be the maker.
