i have a supposedly old ring and i'm trying to figure out the symbols molten on it.
the ring itself:
the symbols:
from what i found out by myself:
first square: it's 18 carat (750)
second square: the Ibis bird means it's made out of gold
third square: it was created between 1975-1976 ? i was told that this ring is ~100 years old. is it possible that the same sign was used earlier? here is a table with the dates: http://www.books.google.com/books?id=Ll ... C&pg=PA199 does the table mean that prior 1940 the Egyptians used latin alphabet - A, B, C , D for the date?
also do the dots mean something too, or if i missed anything else here?
thanks in advance.

Re: Unknown mark on a ring
Your ring doesn't look very old, also from the reading it seems like Egypt didn't have a structured gold marking system prior to 1917, so it is very doubtful they would have used that mark. Not sure if the dots indicate anything. Pretty ring though.
