Information on Greves & Hodges Co. atomizer Alpha Delta Phi

Post by vintiquables »

I recently acquired what I think is an atomizer made by Greves & Hodges Co.

I can't find very much information on the silvermaker and was hoping to learn a little about them and their history. I've seen a few other sterling items for sale by the same maker but no information. And I found two archived classified listings from the company from 1913 and 1916, they were listed as a jewelry company located in NYC.

Also hoping to confirm that the item is an atomizer. It has a spring inside that compresses when you push the button on the lid, pushing air out of the nozzle, and it has a faint smell of perfume. I haven't seen one like it before, maybe its not complete?

It has the Greek letters alpha delta phi engraved on the lid. Alpha Delta Phi is a fraternity founded in 1832.

Any information would be great!

Welcome to the forum. Greves & Hodges must be the retailer; the manufacturer's mark looks like Mauser. Take a look and see what you think:

Thank you for the welcome and reply Silverly.

The hallmark is not a match to Mauser's but I did notice on the page you linked me to, Merrill Shops, which is a match! Maybe you meant to say Merrill?
Thank you for your help!

You're welcome, and yes I did mean say Merrill Shops. Glad to hear they're a match.
