I realize that you won't be able to see the hallmarks, but they say Ly & Co, followed by the lion passant, Edinburgh towers, and either O or Q for a date which would be 1988 or 1990. According to another website which gives UK makers, there was a Liberty & Co in Edinburgh from 1987 to 1991 (the link for this page is http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Make ... LP.html#LY
This pin is in the arts & crafts tradition of Liberty & Co, and this might have been made for them by a Malcolm Grey or a Pat Cheney, or this might be a fake. At any rate, I would really appreciate comments and opinions on this piece and on the hallmarks and the possibility that Liberty & Co was briefly in Scotland. Thank you.

Hi Muraille,

I can confirm that Liberty & Co. did register marks with the Edinburgh Assay Office. 'LY & Co' contained within an oblong punch with clipped corners (the 'Y' and the 'o' being smaller than the 'L' and the 'C') was registered in 1980. Their registration continued there until 2001.

Thank you dognose. That's exactly what it looks like. Would you venture a guess as to who might have made this pin?
