Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, i am no expert on silver! I was given this tankard by my late Granddad after he died the other year. Looking at the Hallmarks and referencing off this website i think i have identified the hallmarks correctly, but i thought i would ask you guys on here as will probably know alot better than i do!

The first hallmark says:

TAR
FJL
CLR

From the above topic, i find this to mean - Thomas Arthur Reid, Francis James Langford and Christian Leopold Reid.

What i am confused about is where it was made? I think its a London Hallmark? But the above topic suggests that they all worked at Newcastle? Also i think from the date mark it was madei n 1903?

Anyway you guys I hope will know alot more about it, I don't know alot!

Also it has '2737' marked on the bottom underneath, what could that mean?

It is Reid & Sons, hallmarked at London, 1903

Newcastle assay office closed in 1884.

Some silvers makers had items assayed at different assay offices from the area worked, some had their marks registered at several assay offices.

The number 2737 could be a product / stock or range number.

The spout on the item would not usually be associated with a tankard as originally manufactured although there are examples of one being added later.
If there is no evidence of the spout being a later addition and the dimensions are sufficient the item was probably made as a hot water jug or similar.
