Hi there,
these tongs or nips have the marks as shown - does anyone know of their origin? I was sure I had seen this mark before, identified as a Swiss maker- maybe I dreamt it!! The mark looks like a face with a 3 above - I cannot find any mark resembling this one. Can anyone put me right? As always grateful for any information.
Best wishes, Jo.

I would suggest hallmark for 0.800 for Geneva (Swizerland) from 1815 to 1881.

Regards.

Hi Joho

Smoka is right. It is Geneva. Maker Jean Pierre Louis Ramu Dufour, (1796 - 1852). Making of the item is between 1825 and 1850.

Kind regards

Jörg
