Hi, I'd appreciate some help with this beaker. It is stamped with a crowned L in an oval and the maker's mark AF...
Is it from Lisbon and does anyone recognise the mark?
Thank you

Dear Funkel
What does the C stand for in AFC? I take it AF is Antonio Firma...

Emma, the picture is not complete, I think it should be Firmo Antonio da Costa
Best regards

Emma, I have a cup identical to the one pictured in your Aug 5 post. The "c" is faint in mine as well. Do you know the history of the one you have? I can trace mine back to the mid-late 19th c, Scotland but wish I knew more.

Other than the fact it originally came from Portugal and ended up in South Africa I'm afraid I can't tell you any more.
