I am new here. I have a candelabra with a strange hallmark of a Turkish ottoman soldier looking gentleman wielding a scimitar style sword. it also has a pattern number of 1388 with a packman looking mark. I have been researching this piece for sometime now and can't find anything like it.
any help would be appreciated.

here are a few more details. this piece is has an odd finish, the body has a gold colored tone in the field. "I do not believe it is silver plating that is worn or polished off" could be wrong though. looks to be done like that originally, very smooth tone and consistency. the silver application, seams to be sterling. By the dress of the warrior and his Scimitar, he is obviously of middle eastern origin..
I have spent many hours researching these marks, I have found nothing. dead end for me. Help! anyone?

The engraving is not a hallmark, but a family crest identifying a former owner of the candlestick.

Here are some other examples of similar crests:



The marks shown are likely to be just internal workshop marks and with the lack of any other markings I fear it will be impossible to find a maker for your piece.

I'll move your post to the family crest section to see if anyone can ID the family concerned.

what period did they use this style of family crest? 19th century perhaps ?
any ideas on country of origin? would be appreciated.
