E O & co, EPNS knives and forks

Post by chaddy5552 »

Looked through the references, unable to find a match. Marking are E O & CO. Also, does anyone know what the handles are made out of?

Hi Chaddy welcome to the forum.

I believe you knife handles are made out of Nacre better known as mother of pearl. Mother of pearl is the common name for iridescent nacre, a blend of minerals that are secreted by oysters and other mollusks and deposited inside their shells. The shell of various species are used; pearl oysters and abalone are both sources ; that is cut into various shapes and admired for itsÂ’ brilliant reflective colors and nearly translucent 3 dimensional appearance.
I am afraid the silver-plate mark EO&co is unknown to me.
