Scandinavian (?) youth fork

Dear Forum,

I have a youth fork, age unknown, that I would like to know how old it is, and where it was made. It is 7 1/2" long, and the top has a carving of a little boy riding a Billy goat. He has on a cap and a backpack. He certainly looks Scandinavian. Around the picture is scroll work and a small flower. The maker's mark is: 830S, then, a picture of a small spoon on its side, then, an "N" inside a square box.

Thanks a million,
Evangeline

Hello,

The little spoon is the maker's mark of Nils Hansen Sølvvarefabrikk of Norway. They are still in business and I believe they are located in the city of Oslo.
Soon, I will be adding a page of Norwegian maker's marks to the website, an example of this mark will be included.

Regards, Tom
