Information on Candelabra marking

I have a Candelabra I found in a attic, I cannot tell if it is antique or what. I believe it is silver.
The markings are as follows
7 5 7 with the five lower than the sevens
Above the 5 is a rectangular object with lines running vertically
Under the 7 5 7 are the markings in a square D * S
I have been unable to find anything on the internet regarding these markings.
Thank you

Hi,
That's an early mark of James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield. It was probably used pre electro-plate, so your item is likely to be either close-plated or Old Sheffield Plated.

Thank you for that! I wondered honestly if it was that mark. May I ask how early is early?

I've seen it attributed to c.1835.

Hello,
One more question if I may. Do you know what the 7 5 7 is for?

I have one more question.
How do I care for this? Cleaning and all?

Hi,
My apologies, I thought I had come back to you.
The numbers would be an internal batch, pattern or order number.
As far as the cleaning etc., check out the topics in this forum:
