Hi there,
I purchased this lovely set at a garage sale, and am wondering what the marking on the back of the necklace clasp says. I have done some research on the style of this set but I feel that I am getting conflicting information about the origin. I honestly cannot tell if this is of Bedouin, Yemen or Moroccan origin. Pardon my ignorance. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Hi,

Welcome to Forum.

It's Malaysian. The script mark, which is upside down in your image, is in Jawi, an Arabic script used in Malaysia, the script translates to the word is Kelantan, a state in northern Malaysia which has a tradition of silverwork.

See page six of: Chinese Export Silver & Far East Trade Information

Your example is the second one we've had in the last week. See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 13&t=35970

Thank you so much! I did actually see the other topic you referred to but failed to recognize the match. Thanks once again. I'll obviously need to look more closely at other photos on the forum.
