Makers Mark Question - Insight Appreciated!

Hello,

I hope this post finds everyone well! I am new to Snuffbox collecting and have been researching some markings on the bottom of quite an interesting one!

Image

From my (newbie) initial research, the hallmark appears to be of a LION PASSANT (so either English or Dutch?) but it's facing right instead of left (not sure if that matters.) In any case, this certifies it as .925 silver, correct?

Can anyone tell me with more certainty about the country of origin?

More importantly, can anyone identify the maker's mark? It's partially obscured but I'm hoping there's an expert out there who might be able to ID it!

I'm pretty excited about this sterling snuff box so any help appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forum Dutch Lion passant above 2: standard mark silver .833 fineness (1814-1953). Please check your snuff box for other marks like; date-letter and an office mark. To identify makers' mark clean the mark with a little silver polish and chewed wooden toothpick or soft toothbrush and make some good clear images. Could you also show us the snuff box ?
