PLEASE CLICK ON THUMBNAILS TO VIEW FULL SIZE PHOTOGRAPH.
Can the experts say if this 22cm table spoon is genuine. It appears to have the post 1845 VILNIUS town mark though the bottom edge of the mark shows signs of a miss hit or an over strike. The date appears to be 1857.
The assayer could be A.N or A.M and the maker I read as A.MATATE, though some letters are distorted. I cannot find either on the internet.
Can anybody please identify the assayer or maker and if genuine give further details.
Regards
Paul

No problem, the assayer's initials are A.M. He is Aleksandr Nikolajevich Mianovsky 1849-1862 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The maker is А. МАГАТЪ (Latin: A. MAGAT), working period 1835-1880. The year mark 1857 fits perfectly. Silver fineness 84 zolotnik, i.e. 875/1000. Yes, the spoons are genuine.
