hello ,i got a spoon ,the mark is sterling and like whiting company .my question is the silver mark usually stamp on spoon ,so the mark is concave, but this mark is convex .i mean the mark is higher than surface .second picture show the "H" near by .this mark is concave . why ?who can tell me .thanks .and it is better if you tell me the period .thanks again .

Always helpful to post an image of the item as well as marks, especially if you're interested in age - from what I can see, your spoon appears to be Whiting's 'Dorothy Vernon' pattern, introduced in 1909 (US patent #D40353). The 'H', most likely an indicator of weight (Heavy), was probably stamped after manufacture, but the other marks like the raised trademark, etc. weren't struck, they would have been cut into the die just like the pattern; with that 'PAT.APP.FOR' mark, the die would have been early, but it could have been used for a long time...
