Hi, welcome to the forum.
Made in Germany around 1889 „Spindelpresse“ (Screw press) maker's mark for: M. H. Wilkens & Söhne
See: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilkens_%26_S%C3%B6hne

Good you asked because I made an error in the date code not 79100 but 7910.

See: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilkens_%26_S%C3%B6hne
Scroll down to ;Auftragnummern (order numbers), the latest order number at year end.
Your order number 7910
Year 1866 latest order number 8214 which dates your object around early 1866

Hello, if this is indeed an old Wilkens "Auftragsnummer" (order number), then only the design dates back to before 1866. The execution must be newer, as the hallmarks punched here are modern. 835 is a finenesss rarely to be found in Germany before 1918. Since 1927 Wilkens usually punched pattern numbers, no longer order numbers. A pic of the object might help. but judging from the marks alone I would say we have a quite modern piece here. Regards, Bahner

Hi Bahner,

You are right, the crescent moon and crown introduced 1886 and also the maker’s mark of M.H.Wilkens & Söhne the „Spindelpresse“ has been first used around 1886, indeed the number 7910 is not an "Auftragsnummer" or order number but perhaps a reference number.
Thanks,

Oel.
