Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas about this teaspoon? Always assumed if there is no city mark then it's generally London,

Sorry about the links but photobucket has changed in the last ten years - sigh.

On the balance of probabilities London is the most likely assay location for this spoon, especially as provincial assay offices don't tend to have bevelled corners on their lion passant punches. I would hazard a guess that the maker might be George Smith II who first entered a plain GS mark with the letters filling the punch in 1775.
