I have a silver spoon in my collection. The silver marks tell me it was made in the USA but I am not sure. I have checked on here: http://www.925-1000.com/americansilver__Icon.html but no luck. Can someone please identify the maker of it?

Hi Sebastian,

See Gorham at: http://www.925-1000.com/Gorham_Date_Code.html

Hi Trev,

Yes, that has to be it, thank you. Although I cannot figure out the date symbol? It looks to me as a disformed crown or fire flames. Can there be more date symbols not mentioned on the website?

I think you are looking at the 'G' for Gorham. There were no date letters applied to flatware, only holloware.

Yes, I though the third symbol is a date mark (symbol) as it just did not resemble the 'G' letter to me. Can one say how old this spoon might be? Last quarter of he XIX century maybe?

Yes, that appears to be the likely period of time for that particular style of mark.

A picture of the entire spoon might narrow down the earliest dating...
