Hi,

Upon request by PM.
Could someone please give me information about a Swedish silversmith; Magnus Nilsson, registered silversmith in Göteborg from 1870-1840, the year he died.
We would appreciate an image of his master mark and if possible an image of some of his work.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Oel.

Sorry to say, but there is no registered (?) silversmith Magnus Nilsson in Goteborg, actually not in whole Sweden at that time. You mention "registered", what is the base for that statement? Maybe he never became a master? There are many Nilssons with different forenames i Sweden but none of them located in Göteborg and no Magnus either. I also tried to find something with the initials MN. There are two marks "MN" but they don't match with this case.

Could you recheck your source?

Hi Qrt.S,
Thanks for your research. If Magnus Nilsson never registered a maker’s mark he probably worked under the name of another registered silversmith or silver shop/factory.

Regards,

Oel.
