Hi, I purchased this little jug a while ago and have managed to get as far as identifying the registration mark being 1878, but I still have no clue if the item is silver or plated as I have had little success in identifying the marks. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

It's silverplate, one of the several marks used by Richard Hodd & Son.
