This very big "Jardiniere" is marked with Diana, Hauptmann with imperial eagle above and as I think the maker's mark, probably belonging to A.D.Hauptmann & Comp. Vienna. Hauptmann was "Hoflieferant", but there is nearly nothing to find in the Internet. Does anybody know the maker's mark and more details about Hauptmann. The Jardiniere bears two crests and a baron's crown so that a suppose that it was a gift for a wedding. If somebody could say something more about the crest i would be very happy.

Hi Silverfan,
For what it is worth, here's a few snippets of information regarding A.D.Hauptmann & Co:
In 1894 the firm was in the hands of Franz Hauptmann and Anton Richter and the same partnership existed in 1897.
Around early 1903, Anton Richter died and the firm was continued by Franz Hauptmann alone.
Their premises were located at Kohlmarkt 16, Wien in 1903. They were perhaps out of business, or just relocated, by 1912, as Kohlmarkt 16 was remodelled into the bookshop 'Manz' (the facade was designed by Adolf Loos in that year).
Kohlmarkt 16 was earlier the premises of the bookseller, Ludwig Auer in 1820:
Ludwig Auer - Wien - 1820
It is now, I believe, occupied by Louis Vuitton.

k.u.k. Hoflieferanten für das Jahr 1899
Hauptmann Franz und Richter Anton, Juweliere, Gold- und Silberschmiede; Firma: A. D. Hauptmann & Comp
Wien I., Koblmarkt 16.
Pictures are too small. The mark should be a chalice or an anvil. Is there a retailer`s mark here?

There is no retailer's mark. The mark to the left (bad photo) is a bar with a wing on the right and the left side in a circle.
