Opinions welcomed on the maker of this caster

Hi,

I have a caster which unfortunately has no date mark. The makers mark appears to be IG, IO or possibly IC, to me it is very similar to that attributed to John Gamon, however I would welcome the views of others and also opinions on what time period the caster is from.

Thanks
Martin

This looks like a London mark in Jackson (p126) described as "IG, pellet below" and seen on a communion cup of 1664-65, maker unknown. The form of the lion passant punch puts this into the 17th century or earlier, but the style of the caster (or pounce pot?) seems consistent with the date quoted.

Many thanks Phil, I missed the Jacksons entry and of course you are right about the lion passant mark.
