Help to identify partial makers hallmark on a bookmark please?

Hello all,

Can anyone ID this makers hallmark on my bookmark, it seems it is only partially stamped. If it helps, the left side which fades to nothing seems to be part of a box or shield with a line going down inside it, possibly part of an initial?

Apologies for the images being links, I just couldn't get them to appear!

Thanks in advance!
Sonya

Thanks Dognose :-) and thanks for sorting the photos too.
If that mark was not used after 1896, does that mean the bookmark dates from 1878-1896?
Cheers!

Yes. As I understand it, the change of trademark came about following a law suit with the Whiting Mfg. Co. in 1896.
