Hi,

I am puzzled with one hallmark on a Dutch silver tobacco box from the 18th century.
The lid of the box is made of mother of pearl and shows a scene of 'the judgement of Paris'.
The are two clear hallmarks; Stork in crowned shield (city sign of the Hague) and the other hallmark looks like a V of branches in a shield but not sure what it is exactly. Possibly a yearletter ?

Fake marks.

The stork, fake city mark for The Hague, followed by a fake maker's mark.

Dear Oel,

Thank you so much for this info. I once heard about the existence of ('Antique') fake marks on Dutch silver which can be very tricky as being applied for century's. It's time to invest in some books...
