Sterling Spoon marks and crest

Hello,
I have these three serving spoons and serving knife and had a few questions for the forum.
They are marked Leopard (london), lion passant, K (1845), Queen Victoria, GA (George William Adams).
The marks I am curious about are next to the maker marks seen on each item. On the one there is sort of Maltese cross, on another an empty square, and on the other two a K.
The crest is also curious; I was told it was the crest to the Lorne Scots Regiment ( a Canadian reg), but I am doubtful of that.
Any help on either of these points would be appreciated. Thanks!
