Hi all,
How was it used ?
I have a suspicion, including an assumption
But......who has the solution ?
Maker's Mark: Hooijkaas Schoonhovens Silver Fab H. bv
This maker's mark in period: 1946 - till present
Lion passant II = 835
Minerva head letter M = Schoonhoven
Date letter M = 1972
Best regards

Two prongs, one looks sharp. It was obviously meant to be fixed to something by manipulating the lever at the bottom. A badge of a social, yachting club etc.
Tell us, please, I give up.

Hi all,
Sorry for my late response, I had a busy day.
I have warned you, so do not shoot the messenger.
This is one of the items that I bought from an inheritance (silver collector and everything was related to chocolate)
Hooijkaas is well known as a maker of old replicas.
I have been told that the cup was filled with chocolate granules
It was hanging in a glass or cup of hot coffee.
When the chocolate was melted, then it was mixed with the coffee
The two pins are to hold the cup on the water level
Because of its size, I had my doubt about this.
I had hoped that someone recognized this
Best regards.

Hi Dendriet,
What about the the sign/H flag, the pole with the little hook any ideas? If used for chocolate and the chocolate melted by the hot coffee, why not trow the chocolate flakes staight in the hot coffee? To be honest I am clueless.
Best
Peter

Hi,
It`s rally intriguing. You said ``Because of its size, I had my doubt about this``(melting chocolate). I presume it`s very small, and being small it may not have any practical purpose. It could be a miniature of something, a corporate gift. I tried to find ``H`` sign (flag) among Dutch industries, but in vain. The scoop (bowl) is very interesting. Those two constructions on both sides are really not needed to fix the bowl to the pole, or for whatever purpose unless they are a miniature reproduction of something.
I will keep searching.
Best wishes

Hi Ag2012
The geometrical shape of the bowl reminds me of the containers that are part of conveyor belts for minerals.

Hi all,
Peter, the first thing I asked, where it`s used for.
In which the story of the chocolate were presented
I had never seen anywhere, and was amazed.
That was the reason why I bought it.
Logo letter H was also the reason for my quest
Had something to do with Restaurant or specifically hotels,( Horeca) ?? No Idea
It is an anniversary edition 1922-1972.
"Why not trow the chocolate flakes staight into the hot coffee?" hahaha
Yes, I had the same thought , and indeed, it seems to me it had absolutely nothing to do with chocolate and coffee.
Maybe something with alcohol?
Which the next thought again. why not trow the alcohol staight ............... ..? yes
Now we live in a fast world, and no place for old traditions, we throw everything together once in a blender.
Yes i am clueless to ....
AG2012 You're right, It`s rally intriguing.
It is not a miniature, it is too big.
But I think that it could be a replica of an old traditional use (Hooijkaas)
A corporate gift, yes it’s possible
New picture to better estimate the size
Best regards

Hi all,
Amena , yes indeed, you're absolutely right, the same design, and so you will see that appearances are deceptive.
Then I take a good look for a dredging company, which are plenty in Holland.
Best Regards

Hi all,
Tonight he will be put into operation and filled with brandy (good size for this)
And yes, Peter, I trow the cognac staight in my throat.
Thank you all for the time I stole from you.
When I know more I'll let you know
Again thanks a lot
Best regards
