MYSTERY STERLING SPOON
Posted: Thu Jun 16, 2016 1:05 pm
I have just found this STERLING spoon in amongst some silver plate that belonged to my aunt. I don't know anything about it. I do not think it is terribly old as it really has no "hallmarks" like one would find on old silver (like UK hallmarks). I think the maker of this spoon might possibly be American. Would like to know if anyone can identify the maker, possibly the pattern and how old it might be. The only marks on the spoon are on the back of the handle - the word "STERLING" and the funny man's head. Do not want to be politically incorrect but I am not sure if the "head" is supposed to be an American Indian or not - there is a feather or pointy object sticking out the back of his head??
Any information greatly appreciated. THANKS
