Need Help Identifying Canadian Silver Mark

Hi,

I recently acquired two of these teaspoons in the Montreal, Canada area. The mark is poorly stamped, but I think that it may read "GS" with a lion. I was thinking George Savage, but the cursive lettering doesn't appear to conform. And I may be wrong about the letters. Does anyone recognize this mark?

Thanks!

Ron

Hi Ron,

To me, that looks like a George Smith III of London mark. See: http://www.925-1000.com/dlLondon5.html#M

Please remember to keep your images to within the 7" (18cm) width limits.

Hi Trev,

Thank you for that. I see the resemblance, but is it normal for only the lion and the initials to show up - there's no assay office mark or date mark

BTW, I thought that the photos were under the 8" dimension - I'll be more careful in the future

Thanks again,

Ron

Hi Ron,

Yes, at this period, the assay office only struck the Lion Passant on teaspoons.
