Hi
I would be most grateful for any information on the the marks on this sugar bowl. It comes from a sugar bowl and stand and both pieces are identically marked, I am assuming continental but I am not really sure.
Thanks
Martin

Hi,
Letters are obviously Greek.Delta and Beta with the figure on the left and Gamma and Delta on the right. So, it`s either Greece or Cyprus (the latter being less probable candidate because of well established hallmarking system, at least what`s on Cyprus assay office website).

Hi,
You are welcome.
The item was described as ‚‚sugar bowl‚‚ the form and beaded decor are reminiscent of ancient drinking vessels. The original is probably kept in a museum elsewhere or the maker was just under the influence of ancient tradition. Anyway, nice hand made silver.

Hello, agree, most likely from Greece. The figure in the mark looks like that of the antique colossus of Rhodes, that island possibly being the place of origin of this piece. Regards, Bahner

Thank you Bahner, I think I will start with Rhodes when trying to identify the maker.
