I have 2 egg cups with the "Diana" head and 5-pt cartouche so I know it is .800 silver probably between 1867-1872 Austro-Hungary. But what silversmith is "Latzko" and when did he work?

Hi,
There was Latzke silversmith in Vienna (not Latzko).
This is an example of Latzko mark on M. H. Wilkens & Söhne silver (Bremen). In this particular case Latzko was obviously a retailer.
It was not uncommon silversmiths were retailers and also made their own silver.
Is there a letter ``A`` for Vienna in front of Diana`s head?
Regards

Hi,
There existed Mano and Laszlo Latzkó, apparently court jewelers in late 19th century Budapest.
The information was gleaned from:
http://adatbazisokonline.hu/en/adatbazi ... tlap/59101
further search yielded the writer Andreas (Andor) Latzko (1876-1943)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andreas_Latzko
He is mentioned as "son of the downtown jeweler" in this treatise on Budapest coffee house society at the turn of the century.

Hopefully, one our Hungarian speaking forum members can dig up some definitive information.
