Seasons Greetings to silver aficinados, I have intently navigated the internet to no avail to determine the maker of a WW2 badge. as can be seen in the image there are two marks, 900 for silver quality and the unknown maker , the letters F AND C either side a stylised church ? / tower ?





can some kind soul identify the maker, thanking contributor (s) in anticipation

Interesting badge but probably younger than WW2.Still searching.
The mark looks like „Spindelpresse“ (screw press). Compare with the mark of M.H.Wilkens & Söhne, Bremen.

More chances to solve the mystery by searching the badge rather than the maker.

Is the worn guarantee mark actually an incomplete A900 Oval? If so, maker mark in barrel shape seems to be defined in World Marks as from Belgium (possibly around 1942). [Later Belgian standards mark changes to flower.] Does this seem correct?

From another party this badge may be associated with the firm of Altenloh although I cannot find any evidence from the internet of them using that F C logo. Maybe Altenloh only marketed the item, the as yet unknown jeweller ? fabricating it. If everything in life was simple !

The maker is ETABL.FISCH 59 Avenue E. Rostand Bruxelles.

FIBRU - EUROPE bvba has been around since 1853.

In 1853 the first medals were minted, engraved in a modest atelier by master engraver Antoine Fish

The activities were soon expanded to official awards, trophies and art goods.
Since 1934 the studio and the offices have been located in the current building: Edmond Rostandstraat 59 1070 Brussels / Belgium


The shown Makers Mark ( FC) is from:
Fish - Fernand Alfred Antoine Brussels
active 1-2-1942 - ca 1953.

I think Ascasonline http://www.ascasonline.org/newsFEBBRA165.html misinterpretation and means FIBRU - EUROPE (Fibru.com) but that is not the makers mark.

In fact it's Polish Army in Exile badge - unit was a part of 1st Armoured Division.

The badge is known to be made by Altenloch – Bruxelles.

The makers mark (the word alone is clear enough) as shown on the picture with the initials FC is mentioned in the book with photo.
The same but with the Initials FF are from Fibru. (the same company)

What do you know about Altenloh Bruxelles ?? Total nothing ....... The name is completely wrong on the Polish site and that is taken over by others.

Altenloh Edouard, Altenloh Ernest and Altenloh Henri Edouard. These 3 companies located in Brussels with totally different Makers Marks and completely outside the period

Fisch is the silversmith (Company name Fibru = Fisch Bruxelles)

Altenloh is the retailer.

.





This is the makers mark of Altenloh.

I do not think the company exists anymore
