Two U.S. patents for 1879 are in the name of an assignor to the Meriden Brittania Company and relate to coffin trimmings (not the first case among the plating companies). One was for coffin hinges and the next for coffin screws. Anyone know of examples of Meriden's burial related sidelines and whether silver plating was employed in any articles?
